Science and My Life

Space-age design of The Mind Museum

I can say straightly, that I owe a lot to Science. My college education was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and my first ever job happened to be a Planetarium Control Operator. Then after more than three years of exploring the universe inside the dome and endulging myself with different science-related stuff in Science Discovery Center, I am now here helping to build the first ever world class science museum in the Philippines, The Mind Museum. I am an Exhibit Assistant, working as part of the Museum’s Exhibit Engineering group where I will handle the technical and maintenance requirements of the museum, particularly the curatorial aspect.

Philippines' Pioneer and Longest in Service Digistar Planetarium Operator

After I heard about it 2-3 years ago, I have been googling about it and afterwards offered myself  to volunteer in their events and activities. Now that I was hired, I find it very challenging task on my part. I am feeling  mix of emotions. I am nervous but excited at the same time. Nervous, for at first I do not know how will I start, clueless of what will I do, and how will I minggle with other employees. I was glad they made me feel comfortable and I can say they are all helpful and accommodating. Professionals I must say. I am excited for this is the kind of job I am dreaming before.  An opportunity that was never let me experience by my previous employer.  Wearing a corporate attire, no work on weekends and holidays and the job pays good, plus the list of benefits that are really encouraging, very far compare to my first job.

Right now, I am looking forward for the next day. Next day of new learnings, unexpected experience and bright hope. I cannot wait to see the museum rise up and opens for the public to have a deeper understanding of what really science is and how important it is in our daily life. The most important of all is that, “I am part of building and making that dream come true.” Good of luck this 2011 for the entire The Mind Museum Team.
